It was a bit difficult to decide how much money to aim for, having never done anything like this before. I think £500 is a reasonable stretch target, since I don't plan on doing any proper fundraising other than just asking friends and family for money.
I had thought about going into some churches I am or have been involved with and asking for support, but I just don't think I could ask for money like that. Perhaps I'm just too British.
I also managed to find a way to get the RunKeeper widget working on the blog, so I don't have to use DailyMile to track my progress.
This is good and bad, in a way, since I was keen to give DailyMile a try. It looks like it has a lot of nice features and the site as a whole looks more polished than RunKeeper. The one thing it doesn't have is the ability to track people live during races. Not using DailyMile also means I don't have to struggle to find a single app to log runs to both websites simultaneously, or try to shoehorn my past runs from RunKeeper to DailyMile.
Now I'm back from Mexico I plan to do some light training before the run in Lymington, which is just 9 days away now, and then really push myself following that run.
Looking at the training plan I chose now, I think it may be a bit advanced for me, so I may choose a lighter one but mix in some of the things from the more advanced one too as I feel I can. I don't want to overdo it and injure myself before the main race.
